2022 Medical Trip Video
MEDICAL TRIP TO SENEGAL 2022
This video is a summary of our 2022 medical trip to Senegal. We were able to see 427 patients in 4 days, we donated multiple supplies and equipment as well as over-the-counter medications such as Tylenol, ibuprofen, allergy medications, tums, eye drops, ear drops, diabetic oral medications, blood pressure medications, etc. We donated 4 hospital beds and 4 cribs for newborns, a baby warmer, exams tables, exam lamps, chairs, oxygen concentrators, hemoglobin check machine, ultrasound machine, sterilizer, tubings, dressing supplies, scales, etc.
We introduced acupuncture and cupping to the providers and patients, they really liked it, our specialist was able to train the staff with the cupping and left them with some of the equipment to use.
We visited a team center where we donated over 150 reusable hygiene pads to allow girls to continue to go to school during their menstrual periods. We also gave them menstruation bracelets that will allow them to know and be familiar with their menstrual cycles.
We visited the regional hospital around Kanel and donated OTC medications, diabetic and blood pressure medications, as well as pediatric liquid Tylenol and other medical supplies such tubbings, foley bags, dressing supplies, etc.
The cellal team also visited the pediatric cancer center at Dantec hospital, where we donated all of the items from the list provided by their providers. We donated IV Tylenol, steroids, IV fluid, tubings, nausea medications, foley bags, transfusion bags, dressing supplies, etc.
meeting with Kanel authorities in preparation for the 2023 medical trip
I am in Senegal preparing for the 2023 medical trip. I met with the Kanel Mayor, the prefect representative, and the clinic NP to discuss and plan for the medical trip. They are appreciative and expressed their desire to welcome the 2023 medical trip team.
toothpastes and toothbrushes distribution
With the help of her cousins, my daughter Aisha distributed the donated toothbrushes, toothpaste, and some chocolate to the children in the neighborhood and those who were playing soccer on the street, including Talibets (street beggars). They were so excited, and even created a song they called “I got my toothbrush”. We are grateful to all those who contributed (her classmates, her teachers, the teachers at her discovery club, and our family friends). If you want to help provide dental hygiene, please donate on this site at cellal.org.
