building capacity and exchanging expertise

Our vision is to build sustainable health care resources using measurable models with the goal to improve access to health care while preserving the autonomy of communities served. We want to build capacity in these communities, exchange expertise between our team and local community health workers, and build lasting relationships.

We work with local community health workers and providers to determine their needs in order to appropriately fundraise to reach our goals for upcoming trips and beyond.

bolo’s story

Bolo Diallo-Young (Founder of Cellal Africa) is from Kanel, Senegal and experienced firsthand, the lack of access to basic health care and public health knowledge, many of us take for granted. After moving to the United States in 2000, Bolo became an RN and has been volunteering at the Kanel dispensary and donating medical supplies since. She is now a Nurse Practitioner and able to provide a more advanced level of care.

In July 2018, Bolo and a team of medical professionals, social workers, and public health workers, headed to Kanel, Senegal. This effort provided care to over 300 patients in 4 days, working alongside local community health workers and providers to determine their most pressing health issues and needs.

Following the pilot trip, Bolo and her team created Cellal Africa (Health for Women and Children) which is a 501(c)(3) organization.
